February 18, 2005 - Fist of the North Star may well be, even today, the bloodiest and most senselessly violent animated program ever made. The story of a wounded, lonely drifter who jabs his fingers into people and makes their bodies explode in a shower of viscera, Fist is a Japanese manga and anime that lives on in legend. It is also one that has a special place in the unexploded heart of many American anime fans.
With unrelenting fight scenes and unflinching gore, Fist of the North Star (known in Japan as Hokutou no Ken) is also a perfect fit for videogames. Naturally, Sammy Studios has heard the call for Ken to come a'explodin' for us videogame fans. But what kind of game will he shatter our minds with? A Fist of the North Star fighter game? Or, better yet, a full-blown North Star action-adventure.
No, of course not. The real action, as everybody in Vegas already knows, is in the Slots! Japanese casinos have had a lot of success with a Fist of the North Star Pachislo game (that's Japanese for slots), and that slot machine has been converted for home play on PS2, PSP and Nintendo DS. Sega announced on its Japanese calendar this week that it will be publishing the game for its partner, Sammy -- we probably don't need to tell you that this one is staying in Japan, but since this is not a Fist of the North Star fighting game, we probably also don't need to offer condolences to you hardcore fans of the series.
Screenshots of the Nintendo DS version of Jissen Pachislo Hisshohou! Fist of the North Star have already been released by Sammy -- this is the first mention of the PSP game, which should mirror the PS2 sequel 'Plus' version due out in May (the two handheld games are currently unscheduled). Importers who crave blood and will drop yennies into a slot machine for days on end to get it may still be interested in this game -- the Fist of the North Star slot machine does feature a number of animated sequences that play in conjunction with the action on the slots rollers (on the DS, that action plays up on the second screen; for PSP, we'd guess it's either run split-screen or cut away to in between pulls), and since these two new handhelds do not feature region lock-out for foreign gaming, importers can pick up these versions for slot play on their pocket systems

I like the split screen for this game... The PSP has the same game coming..... not sure how its going to work there (see in the article).

Anyway.... I heard rumors that people said this game was coming to the PSP... but I never would have thought in this format :lolSo I guess the DS is getting it too. Like I said... the DS will be perfect for a game like this.... but the game just seems odd...
